My personal story
Hi, I'm Niki
My story begins between two countries: the United States and Greece.
Throughout my adult life, my career required me to move many times between homes and apartments in both countries. Those experiences taught me something that has stayed with me ever since: it doesn't matter how big the house is, clutter finds a way to accumulate.
In Greece, homes tend to be smaller, with limited storage space. In the United States, we often have larger homes with garages, attics, basements, and extra storage rooms. Yet in both places, people continue to fill every available space with things they don't necessarily need.
After more than ten moves, I realized that carrying boxes from one home to another wasn't making me happier. In fact, it was creating more stress. I began asking myself, "Do I really need all of this?"
That's when I learned one of the most valuable lessons of my life: memories are not stored in our belongings. The memories we cherish live in our hearts and minds, not in boxes sitting in a garage.
As a single mother raising two children, life was always busy. Between work, school activities, sports, appointments, and everyday responsibilities, time was precious. The last thing I wanted was to spend my limited free time searching for lost items, managing clutter, or feeling overwhelmed by my surroundings.
So I started creating systems.
Every drawer, every cabinet, every closet, and every storage space in my home had a purpose. Everything had a designated place. Whether it was important documents, jewelry, kitchen supplies, seasonal decorations, tools in the garage, or everyday essentials, I wanted everyone in my family to know exactly where things belonged.
Over the years, organization became second nature to me.
Twice a year, before winter and again in the spring, I go through every single drawer, closet, cabinet, and storage area in my home. Some items are set aside for a garage sale or online marketplace. Others are donated to people who can use them. Every single time, I discover things we no longer need.
The truth is, every six months we create more clutter. It's simply human nature. We shop, we save things for later, we keep duplicates, and before we know it, our homes begin to feel crowded again.
Imagine coming home to a clutter-free house where everything has a place. Imagine knowing exactly where to find what you need. No searching. No frustration. No buying the same item twice because you can't find the first one.
That's how I live, and it's a feeling I want others to experience.
